Medical Treatment and Assistance

Sexual Assault Deans on Call (CONNECTED to U. Chicago)

The Sexual Assault Dean on Call, who can be reached at 834-HELP or through the University Police at (702-8181 or 123), can guide students through the process of finding emotional support and medical care, reporting the crime to the police, preserving evidence, and, if the studetn wishes, pressing charges.  The Sexual Assault Dean on Call is also available to answer any general or personal questions related to sexual assault.  Callers who use 834-HELP do not have to give their names.

Services: Immediate treatment for sexual assault survivors. The survivor is placed in a private room and given the choice of whether to call a Sexual Assault Survivor Advocate, a Sexual Assault Dean-on-Call, or neither. Efforts are made to protect the survivor's privacy and to inform them fully about medical and legal procedures. Sexual Assault Survivor Advocates are trained in sexual assault counseling and advocacy. They can help interpret the medical and legal process, find emotional support, and offer follow-up care and referrals.
