Rape Drugs

Rape drugs are tools that are used to assist in a sexual assault. These drugs can make a person confused, drowsy, dizzy, impair motor skills and judgment, and can even cause a person to lose consciousness. They can make people physically helpless, unable to refuse or impair memory. They can cause a survivor of a sexual assault to be unable to remember what happened or clearly report the attack to the police. While the term "rape drug" is commonly used, these drugs have also been used to help people commit other crimes, like robbery and physical assault, and have been used on people of all genders. Any drug that can be used to produce sedative or amnesic effects can be used to facilitate a rape.

The drug most commonly associated with sexual assault and rape is alcohol. Alcohol use can result in many of the same effects as other rape drugs. Since alcohol impairs in similar ways to rape drugs, drinking can make you as vulnerable to assault as many other rape drugs. It is essential not only to be aware of being slipped a rape drug, but also to monitor alcohol intake.
